National Academy of Sciences Members and Foreign Associates Elected

“The National Academy of Sciences announced the election of 84 new members and 21 foreign associates from 15 countries in recognition of their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research.

The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) is a private, non-profit society of distinguished scholars engaged in scientific and engineering research, dedicated to the furtherance of science and technology and to their use for the public good.

Members are elected to the National Academy of Sciences in recognition of their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research. Membership is a widely accepted mark of excellence in science and is considered one of the highest honors that a scientist can receive.

The NAS membership totals approximately 2,200 members and 400 foreign associates, of whom approximately 200 have received Nobel prizes.” The NAS just announced the election of new members on May 1st and our own Randolph Blake is one of them. Our department is very proud of him and delighted with the fact that he's working for our department at this moment that his life-time work is recognized and appreciated by the science community. Congratulations on your great accomplishment, Randolph! We are so proud of you.
