  Principles of Brain and Cognitive Sciences(339.501)
This is a graduate class, suitable for 1st-year graduate students in Department of Brain & Cognitive Sciences (BCS) or graduate/advanced undergraduate students in other programs related to BCS. Students will be introduced to basic research principles of BCS by learning fundamental theories and major research topics in modern-day brain and cognitive neurosciences. Every and each student in the Department of BCS is required to take both this course and < Methods in Brain and Cognitive Sciences >, which is provided in conjunction with this course.
 
 
ELIGIBILITY
 
  For the Master's Degree Program
He or she must hold a Bachelor's degree, or is considered by the admission committee to have an acceptable intellectual
competence at the level of someone holding an equivalent or higher degree.
 
For the Doctoral Degree Program
He or she must hold a master's degree, or is considered by the admission committee to have an acceptable intellectual
competence at the level of someone holding an equivalent or higher degree.
 
For Both Master's and Doctoral Degree Programs
Applicants should submit a score report of a recognized English proficiency test (TOEFL, TEPS, IELTS, etc.). Native
speakers of English are exempt from this requirement. A score higher than 664 for TEPS or 90-91 for TOEFL (IBT) is
required. The test results should be sent/reported to the College of Natural Sciences, Seoul National University by
Mon 10/17/11 for Korean students (for 2011 Fall Admission) and Fri 08/19/11 for International students.

CRITERIA
1. Admissions decisions are based on the candidate's academic achievements and potential, as well as
his or her personal accomplishments and demonstration of leadership.
2. The admissions committee reviews a number of factors: records of past studies (such as grade point average
or GPA), the study plan, personal statement, and letters of recommendation. Other achievement records and
specific qualifications such as language proficiency are also taken into consideration.
The candidate's application is reviewed in the context of the level of studies completed, quality of achievement,
and characteristics of institutions attended. Finally, the appropriateness of the applicant's academic goals and
suitability of preparation for the proposed program of studies are assessed.
 
 
FINANCIAL SUPPORT
 
(Merit-basis) Scholarship and Stipend will be offered to the student who enter BCS.
