Note: Graduate students are supported academically and financially by individual faculty members once admitted in the department. Therefore, it is required for applicants to contact and consult potential advisors (BCS professors) before submitting applications to the department. We also request applicants to indicate the academic unit and the potential advisors in the application (see below in APPLICATION MATERIALS section).

/ Documents you need to submit when applying online are: application and study plan.

/ Documents you need to mail to CNS are: (1) letter of recommendation,
	(2) official transcripts,
	(3) results for English proficiency test (TOEFL, TEPS), and
	(4) application for academic unit and advisor

/ Native speakers of English are exempt from English test score requirement.

International Students status refers to any student who is not a Korean Citizen and a student who have finished or be scheduled to finish one's formal education outside of Korea.

The application fee (90,000 won or $US 75) must be paid online. However, if you are unable to pay the application fee via online, you should include the fee with the application materials you send by mail as a form of a check. REGISTRATION

	1. Fall 2012 Admission: 08/20/12(Mon) ~ 08/24/12(Fri)

	At any branch of major banks nationwide. Guidance will be updated later.

ELIGIBILITY

	For the Master's Degree Program

	He or she must hold a Bachelor's degree, or is considered by the admission committee to have an acceptable intellectual competence at the level of someone holding an equivalent or higher degree.

	For the Combined Degree Program

	He or she must hold a Bachelor's degree, or is considerer by the admission committee to have an acceptable intellectual competence at the level of someone holding an equivalent or higher degree.

	For the Doctoral Degree Program

	He or she must hold a master's degree, or is considered by the admission committee to have an acceptable intellectual competence at the level of someone holding an equivalent or higher degree.

	For All Applicants

	Applicants should submit a score report of a recognized English proficiency test (TOEFL, TEPS, IELTS, etc.). Native speakers of English are exempt from this requirement. A score higher than 664 for TEPS or 90-91 for TOEFL (IBT) is required. The test results should be sent/reported to the College of Natural Sciences, Seoul National University by Mon 5/21/12 for Korean students (for Fall 2012 Admission) and Fri 08/03/12 for International students. (for Spring 2013 Admission)

	CRITERIA

	1. Admissions decisions are based on the candidate's academic achievements and potential, as well as his or her personal accomplishments and demonstration of leadership. 2. The admissions committee reviews a number of factors: records of past studies (such as grade point average or GPA), the study plan, personal statement, and letters of recommendation. Other achievement records and specific qualifications such as language proficiency are also taken into consideration. The candidate's application is reviewed in the context of the level of studies completed, quality of achievement, and characteristics of institutions attended. Finally, the appropriateness of the applicant's academic goals and suitability of preparation for the proposed program of studies are assessed.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT

	(Merit-basis) Scholarship and Stipend will be offered to the student who enter BCS.
