Procedure for Korean Students

  1. Click here to see if you are eligible to apply.
  2. Submit your application on the SNU admissions website from Oct 18th to Oct 22th, 2010.
  3. Mail the packet of required documents to the College of Natural Sciences by 25th of Oct.
    • Also, you must indicate the choice of your advisor on your application.

NOTE
  • Documents you need to submit when applying online are: application and study plan.
  • Documents you need to mail to CNS are: 1 letter of recommendation, official transcripts, and a score report of a recognized English proficiency test (TOEFL, TEPS, IELTS, etc.).
  • Native speakers of English are exempt from this requirement.


Procedure for International Students

International Students status refers to any student who is not a Korean Citizen and a student who have finished or be scheduled to finish one’s formal education outside of Korea.

  2. Find “International Admission” at the SNU website and create an account.
  3. Applications for admission will be accepted from October 18nd to October 22th, 2010.
  4. The Required documents should arrive at the College of Natural Sciences by 18th of Oct.
    Applicants must have already completed the online application.

  1. The application fee (90,000 won or $US 75) must be paid online. However, if you are unable to pay the application fee via online, you should include the fee with the application materials you send by mail as a form of a check.

Eligibility

For the Master’s Degree Program
He or she must hold a Bachelor’s degree, or is considered by the admission committee to have an acceptable intellectual competence at the level of someone holding an equivalent or higher degree.
For the Doctoral Degree Program
He or she must hold a master’s degree, or is considered by the admission committee to have an acceptable intellectual competence at the level of someone holding an equivalent or higher degree.
For Both Master’s and Doctoral Degree Programs
Applicants should submit a score report of a recognized English proficiency test (TOEFL, TEPS, IELTS, etc.). Native speakers of English are exempt from this requirement. A score higher than 664 for TEPS or 90-91 for TOEFL (IBT) is required. The test results should be sent/reported to the College of Natural Sciences, Seoul National University by Fri 04/09/10 for international students and Wed 05/19/10 for Korean students.

Criteria
  1. Admissions decisions are based on the candidate’s academic achievements and potential, as well as his or her personal accomplishments and demonstration of leadership.
  2. The admissions committee reviews a number of factors: records of past studies (such as grade point average or GPA), the study plan, personal statement, and letters of recommendation. Other achievement records and specific qualifications such as language proficiency are also taken into consideration. The candidate’s application is reviewed in the context of the level of studies completed, quality of achievement, and characteristics of institutions attended. Finally, the appropriateness of the applicant’s academic goals and suitability of preparation for the proposed program of studies are assessed.


Financial Support

Scholarship and Stipend will be offered to the student who enter BCS.

For both Master’s and Doctoral Degree Programs

  1. One completed Application Form
  2. Study Plan and Personal Statement
  3. One Letter of Recommendation from your professor
  4. Official documents: Undergraduate/Graduate Studies Transcripts

NOTE
  • Application Deadline : Waiting
  • All documents should be written in English.
  • If you are currently enrolled in an undergraduate program, you should submit an official document that indicates your expected date of graduation.
