Important notes on the 2009 fall admissions
1. For those of you who have not submitted the applications to BCS:
There have been many inquiries about the 2009 fall admissions after the inaugural symposium on the 15th of May, therefore, BCS has decided to receive more applications. Those of you, who are interested in applying to BCS (starting at September 2009), please submit the application online on the SNU admissions website (Click here). You may later be asked to submit additional materials (e.g., the application and the study plan in the format BCS provides), but for now use the application and the study plan that SNU admissions office provides in Korean when submitting the application.
2. For those of you who already have submitted the applications to BCS:
We are very sorry about the inconvenience but the students must resubmit the application to the SNU admissions office. You can reuse the study plan and the personal statement you have submitted to BCS, but have to submit the application in Korean. You can download the Korean version application on the SNU admissions website. We again apologize for the inconvenience.

Eligibility
- For the Master’s Degree Program

- He or she must hold a Bachelor’s degree, or is considered by the admission committee to have an acceptable intellectual competence at the level of someone holding an equivalent or higher degree.
- For the Doctoral Degree Program
-
- He or she must hold a master’s degree, or is considered by the admission committee to have an acceptable intellectual competence at the level of someone holding an equivalent or higher degree.
- For Both Master’s and Doctoral Degree Programs
- Applicants should submit a score report of a recognized English proficiency test (TOEFL, TEPS, IELTS, etc.). Native speakers of English are exempt from this requirement. A score higher than 664 for TEPS or 83 for TOEFL (IBT) is required. The test results should be sent to BCS Admissions Office by May 25, 2009.
Criteria
- Admissions decisions are based on the candidate’s academic achievements and potential, as well as his or her personal accomplishments and demonstration of leadership.
- The admissions committee reviews a number of factors: records of past studies (such as grade point average or GPA), the study plan, personal statement, and letters of recommendation. Other achievement records and specific qualifications such as language proficiency are also taken into consideration. The candidate’s application is reviewed in the context of the level of studies completed, quality of achievement, and characteristics of institutions attended. Finally, the appropriateness of the applicant’s academic goals and suitability of preparation for the proposed program of studies are assessed.

- Submit your application on the SNU website.
- Mail the packet of required documents to the College of Natural Sciences by 25th of May.
NOTE
- Documents you need to submit when applying online are: application and study plan.
- Documents you need to mail to the admissions office are: 1 letter of recommendation, transcripts, and a score report of a recognized English proficiency test (TOEFL, TEPS, IELTS, etc.).
- Native speakers of English are exempt from this requirement.

- One Letter of Recommendation from your professor
- Official documents: Undergraduate/Graduate Studies Transcripts
NOTE:
- All documents should be written in English.
- If you are currently enrolled in an undergraduate program, you should submit an official document that indicates your expected date of graduation.
- There files are provided as a MS Word 97~2003 template file.
