STUDENT INTERVIEW

Students who are selected to take the interview and oral exam on the 30th will be individually contacted by the BCS Admissions Office from 26th~27th via e-mail.

Procedure for Korean Students

Eligibility

For the Master’s Degree Program
He or she must hold a Bachelor’s degree, or is considered by the admission committee to have an acceptable intellectual competence at the level of someone holding an equivalent or higher degree.
For the Doctoral Degree Program
He or she must hold a master’s degree, or is considered by the admission committee to have an acceptable intellectual competence at the level of someone holding an equivalent or higher degree.
For Both Master’s and Doctoral Degree Programs
Applicants should submit a score report of a recognized English proficiency test (TOEFL, TEPS, IELTS, etc.). Native speakers of English are exempt from this requirement. A score higher than 664 for TEPS or 90-91 for TOEFL (IBT, 233 for CBT, 577 for PBT) is required. The test results should be sent/reported to the College of Natural Sciences, Seoul National University by Mon 10/26/09.

Criteria
  1. Admissions decisions are based on the candidate’s academic achievements and potential, as well as his or her personal accomplishments and demonstration of leadership.
  2. The admissions committee reviews a number of factors: records of past studies (such as grade point average or GPA), the study plan, personal statement, and letters of recommendation. Other achievement records and specific qualifications such as language proficiency are also taken into consideration. The candidate’s application is reviewed in the context of the level of studies completed, quality of achievement, and characteristics of institutions attended. Finally, the appropriateness of the applicant’s academic goals and suitability of preparation for the proposed program of studies are assessed.


Financial Support

Scholarship is offered to every student who's enrolled in BCS. It's provided by the department and covers the entire tuition and fees.

Stipend is offered to students after deciding to work for a certain lab in the department and is to be discussed with the student's advisor.

NOTE
  • All documents should be written in English.
  • If you are currently enrolled in an undergraduate program, you should submit an official document that indicates your expected date of graduation.
